Who Was Albert Einstein?

Albert Einstein was a German mathematician and physicist who developed the special and general theories of relativity. In , he won the Nobel Prize in Physics for his explanation of the photoelectric effect. In the following decade, he immigrated to the United States after being targeted by the German Nazi Party. His work also had a major impact on the development of atomic energy. In his later years, Einstein focused on unified field theory. Early Life, Family, and Education

Albert Einstein was born on March 14, , in Ulm, Württemberg, Germany. He grew up in a secular Jewish family. His father, Hermann Einstein, was a salesman and engineer who, with his brother, founded Elektrotechnische Fabrik J. Einstein & Cie, a Munich-based company that mass-produced electrical equipment. Einstein’s mother, the former Pauline Koch, ran the family household. Einstein had one sister, Maja, born two years after him.

Einstein attended elementary school at the Luitpold Gymnasium in Munich. However, he felt alienated there and struggled with the institution’s rigid pedagogical style. He also had what were considered speech challenges. However, he developed a passion for classical music and playing the violin, which would stay with him into his later years. Most significantly, Einstein’s youth was marked by deep inquisitiveness and inquiry.

    Charles Albert (Italian: Carlo Alberto I; 2 October – 28 July ) was the King of Sardinia and ruler of the Savoyard state from 27 April until his abdication in His name is bound up with the first Italian constitution, the Statuto Albertino, and with the First Italian War of Independence (–).

    During the Napoleonic period, Charles Albert resided in France, where he received a liberal education. As Prince of Carignano in , he granted and then withdrew his support for a rebellion which sought to force Victor Emmanuel I to institute a constitutional monarchy. He became a conservative and participated in the legitimist expedition against the Spanish liberals in known as the "Hundred Thousand Sons of Saint Louis".

    Charles Albert became king of Sardinia in on the death of his distant cousin Charles Felix, who had no heir. As king, after an initial conservative period during which he supported various European legitimist movements, he adopted the neo-Guelph idea of a federal Italy, led by the Pope and freed from the House of Habsburg in In the same year, he granted the Albertine Statute, the first Italian constitution, which remained in force until

    Charles Albert led his forces against the Imperial Austrian army in the First Italian War of Independence but was abandoned by Pope Pius IX and Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies, and was defeated in at the Battle of Novara, after which he abdicated in favour of his son, Victor Emmanuel II. Charles Albert died in exile a few months later in the Portuguese city of Porto.

    Albert is father of 3 daughters: Jessica, Katrina and Mary (who was born prematurely and passed away hours after birth in ).
    As the dad of girls, Albert has always stood in defence of women and their &#;right&#; to take their proper place as leaders in the community.
    Albert is also the grandfather of 5 grandchildren: Kyrstin, Madeline, Alyssa, Callan and Russell. His first great-grandchild (Carter) was born in the spring of Unfortunately Carter arrived in this world with health issues and passed away 7 weeks after his first breath of life was taken.

    Work and Life Experience

    Albert&#;s working career began in after he completed an apprenticeship course in one of the building trades. His years of working as a bricklayer/stone mason taught him a valuable life lesson: Bricks and mortar equals bonding and solidarity! When there&#;s unity, there&#;s success.
