Why is President Chakwera being attacked?
Why is Vice President Chilima being attacked?
Why is Honourable Mtambo being attacked?
Can’t you see that while economies of largest countries crumble, yet Malawi still stands?
Could Chakwera, Chilima, and Mtambo’s only crime be that they have come during covid and Ukrainian war?
Attacks! Attacks! Attacks! Relentless Attacks! In his finest play of Macbeth, William Shakespeare wrote: An odd number has mystical power.
It is a million times madness to be attacking a fellow young patriot who fought lungs out, sacrificed his lucrative package at the most prominent Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation and joined his fellow penury-stricken trampled-upon countrymen fighting for the eminence of Malawi, politically and democratically.
Is it not true that Malawians flocked to the streets out of their love for the country? Should we suggest, we were demonstrating against the Democratic Progressive Party-led government to crown Mtambo as a minister? Did Timothy Mtambo appoint Timothy Mtambo (himself) cabinet minister? Even if I were to allow just an ounce of nonsense of Mtambo being “rewarded ministerial post” to sink in me, does Mtambo NOT have adequate or even more than required varsity papers, field experience, skills, capabilities and passion to serve in the capacity as cabinet Minister, especially by comparing with those past and present? Lecture me now, please. Time is flying.
Let us be clear please, Honourable Mtambo led the demonstrations when he was not a cabinet minister. Though not part of the 9 Alliance original members, he too devised a water-sulphuric acid political campaign towards the Fresh Presidential Elections for a better change. I only remember that it was the const
Malawi may be first African country to open embassy in Jerusalem
The president of Malawi has said that his country would open an embassy in Jerusalem, making it the first African country to take this step, either for a diplomatic office or an embassy.
Local analysts say this is a significant move and may have been influenced by the recent ‘Abraham Accords’ between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Malawian President Dr Lazarus Chakwera made the announcement on Saturday. “The reforms will also include a review of our diplomatic presence, including our resolve to have new diplomatic missions in Lagos, Nigeria, and Jerusalem, Israel. I will be sharing more details about this in the near future,” he said as he addressed his country’s parliament. He became president in June 2020. Although he spoke of a diplomatic mission, experts believe he is referring to an embassy.
Chakwera was in Israel in November 2019 and visited Jerusalem, including the Old City and the Western Wall. Malawi is a mostly Christian country with 19.2 million inhabitants. Israel’s non-resident ambassador to Malawi, Oded Joseph, is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
On Sunday, chief Palestinian peace negotiator Saeb Erekat announced that the Palestinian Authority would sever relations with any country that opens an embassy in Jerusalem. Within Malawi, a group of concerned citizens voiced their opposition to the plan, according to the Nyasa Times. “We object to having a Malawi embassy in Jerusalem. If Malawi is to open an embassy in Israel, let it be approved by parliament, and the mission should be in Tel Aviv,” said a member of the group, Mussa Ibrahim.
The head of the African Governance and Diplomacy Programme at the South African Institute of International Affairs, Steven Gruzd, says: “The announcement could be connected to the positive momentum generated by the UAE deal.
“Remember, Chakwera is a newly-elected president in a court-ordered rerun election in Malawi,” says Gruzd. “He is William Shakespeare in his book titled Macbeth wrote, “We are living in this world where to do harm is more laudable than to do good”. It is true that our world has grown so wicked that treachery and dishonesty is more praised than integrity. It is worrisome that we have sold our values to the dogs. Nowadays, a man is valued based on what wealth he has accumulated and not on his integrity and honesty. Have you wondered why it is mostly bad guys , those naughty bullies, that get pretty girls in the hood? It is the same with politics. The wicked are legitimately voted into power to plunder government resources. We pretend to polish ourselves as ardent believers of God but we literally denied his power. Have you not realised that most offences including thievery and corruption are perpetrated by believers? Pay a courtesy visit to prisons and you will agree with me that most prisoners claim to be God fearing people. Creed is taken as a shield to do evil. Are you bamboozled why Pastor Lazarus Chakwera abandoned his ministry only to deceive Malawians with empty promises? Pastor Lazarus Chakwera has been the President of the Assemblies of God for over two decades. He has interacted with the most poverty stricken people in the country. He knows the sufferings of poor Malawians. When Pastor Chakwera promised that he would do everything possible to uplift the plight of people, Malawians believed him, as a man of God, purely based on trust. They were wrong because Pastor Chakwera has proved to be a seasoned hypocrite. He has even failed to deliver his Hi 5 Malawi Congress Party (MCP) slogan promises. Recently Chakwera’s vice president, Dr. Saulos Chilima was implicated in the Sattar’s corruption scandal. He is a devout catholic. Ms. Martha Chizuma, who claims to be an ardent believer, practises selective justice too. ACB can quickly arrest suspects from the opposition Democratic Progressive Party such as Hon. Nicholas Dausi, while leaving Dr.Chilima and Hon. Ei .
