Biography
Mariano di Vaio was born on may 9, 1989, in Assisi. He leaves Italy soon, at the age of eighteen, to pursue his actor and model career: one year in London, working as a model, and then in New York City, to study acting at NYFA (New York Film Academy. Back to Europe, he continued his professional career as a model and ambassador, quickly obtaining magazine covers and collaborations with top international brands: from the advertising of Roberto Cavalli Perfume with Elisa Seidnaoui, to campaigns with Hugo Boss, Gucci, Cucinelli, Tommy Hilfiger, Omega and Cruciani.
In january 2012, he opened his own blog, a digital magazine dedicated to fashion and lifestyle, in wich he experiences succesfully his insights and his visions (www.mdvstyle.com). Today, the blog is a digital magazine, a source of inspiration to millions of people in Italy and in the World, dedicated to men’s passions: from fashion to sport, and also travel, music and movies. The website was a great, immediately success, combined with his official profiles active on social networks: Mariano has 8 million followers on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
In 2016 Mariano took part to an Hollywood production, the comedy movie “Deported”, produced by Yoram Globus. Also in 2016, Mondadori published his first book, the biography My Dream Job.
In the autumn of 2016, he is also one of the tutors/mentors of the first season of “Selfie – Le cose cambiano”, the new talent show aired by Canale 5.

A special fragrance ad
It's probably been done before but as of lately this ad is one of the most unique I've ever seen. Three key factors come to light in "K by Dolce & Gabbana": the location setting in Sicily - mostly the country side and surroundings - instead of big cities as Paris or New York; second, the common use of a hot couple having tender moments or close scenes where they're going on a prelude to a kiss that never happens because the idea is to get close and feel the fragrance essence - instead, male model Mariano Di Vaio has several moments by himself, enjoying the scenery, or spending time with friends, holding a child and one really brief scene with a woman; and third, a soundtrack composed by the phenomenal film composer maestro Ennio Morricone, who delivers something different from what one may call his usual epic scores. His arrangements are more contemporary, almost pop but he also made of a choral of voices and with such blend you have a commercial full of variations, different, highly special.

How do you wear fragrance?
All day, every day – it is my final touch. I’m a firm believer that you are never fully dressed without a spray of fragrance. I prefer to wear something fresh for the day, like the K by Dolce&Gabbana Eau de Toilette and something more intense for the night, like the K by Dolce&Gabbana Eau de Parfum.
The fragrance is inspired by Tuscany – where in Italy do you love to travel to?
I live in Perugia, less than 2 hours away from Montepulciano where the campaign was shot – it is such a beautiful area, timeless and iconically Italian. I am an Italian through and through so can find something special wherever I travel in the country.
The scent represents the spirit of a man who chooses his destiny with passion and confidence – what is your destiny?
Being happy in my life and feeling accomplished are my priorities. I feel lucky that I have had the chance to work on so many different and interesting projects so far. I tend not to plan too much in advance, but enjoy the moment and seize the opportunities as they come along. My destiny is really to ensure my family are happy and healthy; they are my true passion in life.
What do you feel are the common values you share with the Dolce&Gabbana brand?
We’re perfect partners in crime! We have the same values and are perfectly aligned on everything. From being proud Italians to the importance of family and friends, traditions and cultural heritage. There’s a huge mutual respect. We have great chemistry, which is constantly growing, and we’re always on the same wavelength. I hope my partnership with the brand continues for years to come.
