Early Childhood • Born on February 6, 1945 • First lived in the St. Ann Parish, Jamaica • Later moved to a neighborhood known as Trench Town located in Kingston, Jamaica • Started vocal lessons with Joe Higgs • Met Peter Tosh while doing his voice lessons
Wailing Wailers • First time a band was formed – releasing Simmer Down • After this Bob moved to the U.S. • Met his wife Rita Anderson while in the U.S. • He then moved back to Jamaica after getting married and reformed the band, this time calling themselves The Wailers
Burnin’ • The last album done by the group with inclusion of Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh • Huge hit in the U.S. featured song “I Shot the Sherriff”

Who was Bob Marley? • A Jamaican reagge singer, songwriter, musician, rhythm guitarist • Became well known by his reggae song as “No Woman No Cry”, “I Shot the Sheriff”, “Could You Be Loved”, “Jamming” and many others • The album Legend was the best selling reggae album in the world in 1984 • It is selling more than 12mil copies worldwide
