Qari najam mustafa biography sample
RAWALPINDI: Speakers paid tribute to Qari Khushi Mohammad, a recipient of the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz known for the recitation of the Quran, on his death anniversary on Monday.
An event held in this regard at the International Qirat Academy in Satellite Town was attended by students, friends and admirers of Mohammad.
Speakers said it was unfortunate that Mohammad was no longer with them, but his voice would always be a beam of light to show people the right path and his legacy was continued by his sons Qari Najam Mustafa, who received the Nishan-i-Imtiaz in 2007, and retired Capt Mohammad Mehmood who received it in 2015.
They said Mohammad’s death was the end of an era, but his services towards Islam were remarkable.
From a family of Kharal Rakpoots, Mohammad completed a three year source of recitation and rules from Jamia Qasmia in Karachi.
He was appointed the imam of the Presidency and was the first qari of the Senate under Gen Ayub Khan.

Reading List for Advanced Students of Tajwid, Qira’ah, and Qur’anic Studies (English)
The following reading list compiles works relevant to Tajwīd, Qirā’ah, and Qur’anic studies, encompassing various branches within these fields. This list was curated over the course of my studies during the past few years, and then condensed for the purpose of this article. Emphasising works directly linked to these sciences, the list excludes exegesis (Tafsīr) works and primarily features books in English that would be useful to a student of the Qur’an in the Western hemisphere. Research papers are included selectively, focusing on those offering unique insights. To aid navigation, I have categorised the list into sections corresponding to specific topics.
Please also note that the inclusion of a work on this list is not an endorsement of the entire contents. Some of the works would need to be read critically, and preferably with the opportunity to discuss any contentious issues with an expert scholar of the Qur’an.
I pray that Allah makes this list beneficial for all the seekers of knowledge. Please do feel free to suggest further works that I may have missed in the comments.

Dedicated to my loving parents, Muhammad Ilyas and Tahseen Ilyas
With Allah's blessings, the challenging journey of research and writing that I embarked upon in the summer of 2011 has finally culminated into this thesis. Shukar Alhamdulillah (Thanks to Almighty Allah)! I would like to thank the people who have made this possible. I am deeply indebted to my advisors Professor Peter Steele and Professor Gina Fatone. I was only able to begin this project through the immense encouragement and guidance of Professor Fatone. I would like to thank her for her faith in me and her help in every step of the research process.
Professor Peter Steele has been the most wonderful, encouraging and supportive advisor. He has helped me put all my research and ideas into writing. I would like to thank him for being a constant source of guidance and support and for being very understanding.
I am also extremely grateful to Allah for blessing me with the most loving and supportive family and friends. I would like to express my sincerest gratitude and love for my parents. This would not have been possible without their prayers and support. I thank them for helping me find my research participants and accompanying me to the interviews. A special thanks goes out to my sister, Rabia Ilyas who patiently sat with me through numerous hamd and naat events and interviews.
I owe a debt of gratitude to all the people who shared their insights with me. Thanks to all the participants for letting me interview them and record their performances. I am also grateful to the people who facilitated my entry into various hamd and naat events.
My friends have been constant sources of emotional support through this journey and I am deeply gratef
