Rajpal Yadav shares his heartfelt journey of overcoming tragedies and finding love again
In a candid interview, renowned actor Rajpal Yadavrecently opened up about the challenging experiences he has faced in his life, reflecting on the tragedy of losing his first wife at the tender age of 20.
Rajpal recounted the overwhelming emotions he grappled with during that time, emphasizing how difficult it was for someone so young to bear such heavy sorrow. Recalling his early achievements, he shared that he had managed to secure a job at the esteemed Ordnance Clothingfactory, which brought immense pride to his entire village.
During that era, being a 20-year-old man with a stable job often led to family pressure for marriage. Responding to this societal expectation, his father arranged his marriage. Tragically, Rajpal's first wife, who had recently given birth to their daughter, passed away unexpectedly.
The day after that, instead of a joyful reunion, he found himself shouldering the weight of being his daughter's only parent as he saw his wife's lifeless body.
Over the course of him figuring life as a single parent, he also expressed his deep gratitude towards his family, particularly his mother and sister-in-law, for ensuring that his daughter grew up feeling loved. She never felt the absence of her biological mother.
Following the loss of wife in 1991, Rajpalsought solace in his pursuit of education at the prestigious National School of Drama(NSD). He subsequently ventured into television and film, diligently honing his craft for 13 years until he finally established himself as a respected actor. The release of his film Jungle in 2000 brought a sense of stability to his life.
When Rajpal turned 31, he encountered Radha, a woman who would play a pivotal role in his life. Their paths crossed during the filming of The Hero in 2001, and they maintained contact, eventually culminating in their marriage in 2003, with the blessings of both families.

Rajpal Yadavrecently opened up about serving three months in jail in 2018 for defaulting on a loan of Rs 5 crore, which he had taken in 2010 to make the film Ata Pata Laapata. Mentioning that he has never discussed this incident publicly before, the actor revealed that he had a positive impact on a senior jail official after being released from jail.
He told Siddharth Kannan that during his time in jail, he conducted workshops for his fellow inmates. He took permission, gathered all the prisoners and on the second day of the workshop, those who had no urge to even go for a walk or do anything in life or no direction in life, were smiling and started acting.
Rajpal's lively personality impressed the jail officials and praised him. One of them told him that he was motivated to get up every morning and go for a walk and exercise after looking at him.
When the actor was leaving, the jail superintendent and the staff gave him two certificates instead of one. They told him, "This place is very historic and in my whole life I have not seen someone like you. We got inspired by you. We thought we would hear your complaints every day, but in these three months you have made the walls alive.”
Rajpal also expressed his gratitude to the film industryfor not doubting him.
