Cyril LIGNAC
Cyril Lignac didn't much like going to school, preferring to spend his time with his mother and sister, baking marble cakes. He then went on to study hotel management, earning a CAP in pastry-making, cooking, ice-cream and chocolate-making, followed by a professional diploma.
from onwards, he gained experience at L'Arpège in Paris, Jardin des Sens in Montpellier, then Compagnie des Comptoir and Maison Blanche in Paris. Never forgetting his love of pastry-making, the young Lignac also perfected his skills alongside Pierre Hermé, then Alain Ducasse at La Grande Cascade.
His television debut
In , he was hired by David and Cathy Guetta to run the kitchens at their restaurant La Suite. His career took a turning point when TV producer Bibiane Godfroid persuaded him to take part in the Oui chef! television show on M6. It was an instant success. His celebrity boosted him when he opened his first restaurant, Le Quinzième, in Paris, the same year (renamed Ischia in ).
From then on, Cyril Lignac became the most talked-about chef on the French TV airwaves: Top Chef in , Le meilleur pâtissier in and Tous en cuisine in He also appears on M6 cooking shows such as Le chef contre-attaque, Les Rois du gâteau and Ma recette est la meilleure de France.
Numerous projects
Alongside his audiovisual activities, Cyril Lignac took over the bistro Le Chardenoux (Paris 11) in , opened the restaurant Aux Près (Paris 6) in , followed by Bar des prés, Dragon (Paris 6) in , La Salle à Manger (Paris 6) and finally Café Lignac (Paris 7) in He also runs La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac with his sidekick Benoît Couvrand, and La Chocolaterie Cyril Lignac.
The " French Favourite Chef " has since expanded his network, opening an address in London, two patisseries in Saint-Tropez and his online boutique. More recently, the Chef took part in the documentary Qu'est-ce qu'on va faire de toi, rel Cyril Lignac has as much fun inventing as he does reinventing, showcasing a classic Parisian repertoire, conscientiously visiting new territories and adding sparkle to those festive evenings that stretch longer into the night. His is a gourmet style with an assured technique, assuming both the French culinary heritage and a curiosity for the wealth of foreign cuisines. « My core business is to be a chef, to imagine dishes that have a story to tell. » Together with Pastry Chef Benoit Couvrand, he embarked on a sweet adventure and created La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac. In Paris as in Saint-Tropez at the heart of city life, the elegant boutiques offer seasonal cakes and desserts, increasingly modern classics, exceptional bread « We work with emotion to offer pastries that are both delicious and modern. » Meanwhile, the duo created La Chocolaterie Cyril Lignac and imagined delicious, accessible and modern creations. Chocolate Bars, Marshmallow Bears, Orangettes or even Spread can be discovered everywhere in France and in Belgium by delivery. « For me, chocolate has always been linked to sharing, comfort, to the small pleasures of everyday life. » Pistachio entremets, Paris-Brest, Gianduja tart… to discover at La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac. He is owner and chef of the gourmet restaurant Le Quinzième (1 Michelin star), also of Le Chardenoux, a Parisian bistro located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, another bistro located in the Saint-Germain des Près district: Aux Prés and two pastry shops La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris and in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Since , his workshop Cuisine Attitude located in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, had provided cooking and pastry classes. Chef Lignac is also TV presenter for culinary programs on the French television channel M6, and signed a series of more than 40 cookbooks which sold over 3 million copies. After an apprenticeship in his native region of Aveyron in Southwestern France, Cyril Lignac made his way to Paris in to work in the kitchen of L'Arpège, the restaurant of chef Alain Passard. He honed his skills alongside brothers Jacques and Laurent Pourcel at La Maison Blancheand Le Jardin des Sens. In he opened his own gourmet restaurant Le Quinzième in Paris. In , he took over the Parisian bistro Le Chardenoux, a listed historical monument. In he brought the Chardenoux bistro concept to a new venue in the Saint-Germain des Prés when he took over the Claude Sainlouis, renaming it Aux Prés.
