After the debacle surrounding the pictures, which were published in Spanish magazine Lecturas, Casanova disappeared from social media amid reports that she was feeling ‘crushed’ by the accusations. Frederik X (Frederik André Henrik Christian, pronounced[ˈfʁeðˀʁek] born 26 May 1968) is King of Denmark. He acceded to the throne following his mother's abdication on 14 January 2024.
Frederik is the elder son of Margrethe II and Prince Henrik. He was born during the reign of his maternal grandfather, King Frederik IX, and became Crown Prince of Denmark following his mother's accession in 1972. He was educated privately at home and at Krebs School, École des Roches and Øregård Gymnasium. He earned a Master of Science degree in political science from Aarhus University. After university, he served in diplomatic posts at the United Nations and in Paris. He has trained in all three branches of the Danish Armed Forces.
Frederik met Australian marketing consultant Mary Donaldson while attending the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. They married on 14 May 2004 at Copenhagen Cathedral. They have four children: Christian, Isabella, Vincent and Josephine.
Early life and education
Frederik was born by emergency caesarean section at Rigshospitalet, the Copenhagen University Hospital in Copenhagen, on 26 May 1968 at 23:50 to the then Princess Margrethe (later Queen Margrethe II), oldest daughter of King Frederik IX and heir presumptive to the Danish throne, and Prince Henrik. At the time of his birth, his maternal grandfather was on the throne of Denmark and his matrilineal great-grandfather, Gustaf VI Adolf, was on the throne of Sweden.
He was baptised on 24 June 1968, at Holmen Church, in Copenhagen. He was named Frederik after his maternal grandfather, King Frederik IX, continuing the Danish royal tradition of the heir apparent being named either Frederik or Christian. He became Crown Prince of Denmark when his mother as Schooling and education Together with his siblings, The Crown Prince began a planned 12-week stay at the international school Lemania-Verbier in Switzerland on 6 January 2020. Because of the situation with Covid-19, the stay was terminated ahead of time. The Crown Prince began in the gymnasium at Herlufsholm in Næstved on 11 August 2021, where His Royal Highness completed 1.g. On 8 August 2022, The Crown Prince started in 2.g at Ordrup Gymnasium in Charlottenlund. The Crown Prince graduated from Ordrup Gymnasium in Charlottenlund on 24 June 2024. On 4 September 2024, The Crown Prince set out on an extended stay in East Africa. There, The Crown Prince was involved in the daily operation of two farms, which among other things included practical and administrative tasks and gave The Crown Prince insight into local nature protection. Education
The King attended Krebs' Skole during the years 1974-1981, from 1974-1976 as a private pupil at Amalienborg and at Krebs' Skole from the third grade. In the period 1982-1983, The King was a boarder at École des Roches in Normandy, France.
In 1986, The King graduated from the upper secondary school of Øregaard Gymnasium, and in 1995, His Majesty graduated from the University of Aarhus with a MSc (political science). In connection with these studies, The King studied political science at Harvard University, USA from 1992 to 1993.
Business background
The King served at the Danish UN Mission in New York in 1994 and was posted to the Royal Danish Embassy in Paris as First Secretary of Embassy from October 1998 to October 1999.
Military background
The King has been educated primarily within the defence, where His Majesty has completed several basic and active educational courses.
The King’s military education began in 1986 in the Queen’s Life Guard Regiment. In 1988, His Majesty was appointed as a lieutenant of the reserve. After obtaining that rank, The King became a platoon commander in the Royal Danish Hussar Guard Regiment in 1988. In 1989, The King was appointed as a first lieutenant of the reserve.
The King completed frogman training with the Royal Danish Navy Frogman Corps in 1995. The same year, The King was appointed as a first lieutenant of the reserve (navy), and in 1997 His Majesty was appointed as a lieutenant commander of the reserve (navy) and as a captain of the reserve (army).
In 2000 - after training at The Flight School - His Majesty was appointed as a captain of the reserve (air force).
Between 2001 and 2002, The King completed further training step II for leaders at the Royal Danish Defence College, and in 2002, The King was appointed as a major (army and air force) as well as a commander (navy).
