PILAR BAYONA: “EL TEATRO ES MI PASIÓN”

[Hace un instante, por puro azar, buscando a la pianista Pilar Bayona, he encontrado a la actriz Pilar Bayona, un integrante del dúo Pili y Mili, ambas de Zaragoza. La entrevisté hace unos años, este texto se incorporó a mi libro Vidas de cine (2004), pero me apetece refrescar el mito y recordar a esta mujer que siempre ha defendido el trabajo y el teatro.]

Pilar Bayona (Zaragoza 1947), la Pili del dúo de gemelas Pili y Mili, se define como una luchadora en solitario que recuperó la paz mediante el teatro, y dice que aprendió a mirar el pasado sin ira ni nostalgia.

Tiene los ojos pardos, terrosos, chispeantes, como si tuviesen vida propia al margen del rostro redondo y de la fragilidad que envuelve a Pilar Bayona. Dicen de ella que es fuerte, incluso dura; sin embargo, estamos ante una mujer con secretos, con abundantes dudas, poco habladora, malquistada con su pasado, llevada y traída por la furia del vendaval. Un detalle que parece denunciar su nerviosismo o su poca afición a las entrevistas, el cigarrillo se le caerá un par de veces de las manos, reflejadas en el espejo, el primer espectador de una intérprete que está a punto de salir al escenario para encarnar a Carviana, la amiga suicida de Cleopatra.

This allowed the country to secure access to film production materials and expand its influence in the global market.

While other nations focused on war propaganda films, the Mexican film industry thrived by exploring a wider range of storytelling themes, eventually dominating cinema across Mexico and Latin America.

Since the beginning of talkies in Mexico, films such as Santa (1932), directed by Antonio Moreno, and The Woman of the Port (1934), directed by Arcady Boytler, were huge blockbusters that showed that Mexico had the equipment and talent needed to sustain a st
